May/June 2005

Pteranodon had no teeth. They had large brains and good eyesight. They were probably warm blooded. They may have had fur! As in birds, respiratory tissue from the lungs extended into wing bones and cooled the blood. RMDRC founder and co-owner, Mike Triebold, discovered in Kansas the most complete Pteranodon specimen found to date. You can see her (a female with an 11-foot wingspan) at the RMDRC.

Fluffy was cool and calm thanks to cool
temperatures, a cool hat, and of course snugly applied duct tape.

Live reptiles from Colorado Gators
visit the RMDRC

On Apr. 16 and 17 RMDRC visitors had an opportunity to learn hands-on about the biology, behavior, ecological role, and similarities of reptiles to dinosaurs during a presentation from Colorado Gators (www.gatorfarm.com). On hand were Fluffy (a 550-lb alligator), Sir Kong (a 100-lb. alligator snapping turtle), Dream (a 10-ft. albino python),  Nelson (a large tortoise), and several other animals.

RMDRC Paleotech Jacob Jett talks snakes with
a visitor. Dream, the albino python, likes to hang
out with Jacob.
