RMDRC Grand Opening Announcement
|
May 24th, 2004 An awe-inspiring display of dinosaurs, prehistoric marine reptiles, flying reptiles and fish of North America’s late Cretaceous world will be unveiled at the highly anticipated grand opening of the 20,000 sq.-ft. Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center in Woodland Park, Colo. taking place Memorial Day weekend. The fossil skeletons including Triceratops, Pachycephalosaurus, a recently discovered North American Oviraptor, Albertosaurus, Pteranodon and many more, are supplemented with vibrant graphics and life-restoration sculptures that help people visualize these fascinating animals in life and the environments in which they lived. Visitors can read the stories of discovery of each specimen and see a working fossil laboratory. There also will be a video presentation in the theatre, interactive displays and a play area for children. Special guest speakers including world-renown paleontologist Dr. Bob Bakker will be giving dinosaur talks at the Woodland Park Library across the street from the RMDRC in conjunction with the grand opening. Other distinguished speakers will be Dr. Martin Lockley (University of Colorado at Boulder), Dr. Ken Carpenter (The Denver Museum of Nature and Science), Walter W. Stein (Curator of RMDRC), Paul Janke (Extinction Theorist), and Mike Triebold (owner and founder of RMDRC). (Please see the schedule below.)
