Local Paleontologist Featured in National Geographic

Woodland Park paleontologist Mike Triebold recently made the news in a May 2005 National Geographic article, “Fossil Wars.”  The article discusses the business of commercial paleontology and the scope of fossil collecting around the world.

Owner of Triebold Paleontology, Inc., Triebold has been involved in commercial paleontology for over 15 years. His field collection techniques and attention to detail have earned him respect from fellow paleontologists around the world.  May 2004 Triebold and wife J.J. opened the Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center in Woodland Park, Colorado, to showcase their findings and educate others about Cretaceous era dinosaurs and marine and flying reptiles.  The Dinosaur Resource Center provides educational tours for school and scout groups, as well as offering tours to the public.  The Dinosaur Resource Center is open seven days a week.

Triebold also provides traveling dinosaurs and marine reptiles in two educational shows that exhibit around the country, Savage Ancient Seas and Savage Ancient World.  These exhibits feature discoveries Triebold and his team have made during their annual field excavations.
