Aug 20 Sat., 11:00am-3:00pm…Colorado Springs Rocket Society… Build your own model rocket to take home. Talk to the people who know all about rockets and get some great information from the experts.
Aug 27 Sat., 11:00am-3:00pm…Fun with Air… Susanne Leininger, an oceanographer and geologist, will do a program about “What is Air”? Can you see it, taste it or touch it? How can you tell if it is real? Experiment with Susanne and make a helicopter you can take home to test out.
Sept 3 Sat., 11:00am-3:00pm…Pikes Peak Children Museum…An interactive open-ended play exhibit for kids. The goal is for children to explore in any safe manner they see fit. They can mix stations together, play alone, with other children, or an adult. It’s all up to them!

Sept 10 Sat., 11:00am-3:00pm…Space Foundation…Visit with the Space Foundation Discovery Center to learn about how we search for potential alien life in our solar system! Drive Sphero robots and learn how to control them with a computer code. Learn about upcoming missions to the Red Planet and Moons of Jupiter and Saturn.
Sept 17 Sat., 11:00am-3:00pm…Animation Program…Steve Leininger…Do you like cartoons? I do!! Cartoons are just one form of animation, the art and science of working with still images to give the effect of motion. See how “moving pictures” started as toys and science experiments have progressed to computer generated animation. Try your hand at making a stop-motion animated dinosaur movie!
Sept 24 Sat., 11:am-3:00pm…Optical Illusion Program…Steve Leininger…Can you believe your eyes? Not always, it turns out. Your eyes work with your brain, and sometimes everything is not what it seems to be. See optical illusions that trick your brain into seeing motion, color, shapes, hidden images and more!
Oct 8 Sat., 11:00am – 3:00pm…Fossils and Amber…Harold Taylor…This is a hands-on event to touch and learn about fossils from around the world. See insects stuck in amber, check out trilobites from 450 million years ago, coral from 360 million years ago, learn the difference between clams and brachiopods, and yes, there will be dinosaur bones you can touch. In fact, you can take some home with you! Fossils and jewelry made with fossils will be available for purchase.

Mostly found in toys and jewelry boxes today, they were once THE source of the home before the invention of the player piano and record player. Find out how they work, and how they inspired the development of computers.

Nov 19 Sat., 1:00pm-3:00pm…Storigami…Denise Gard…Discover how the ancient art of storytelling is combined with Origami in this engaging workshop. Create 2-3 masterpieces to take home. You and your child will be mesmerized as you do this craft and see the shapes emerge as you put them in a story.

Dec 10 Sat., 1:00pm-3:00pm…Triceratops Activity Table…Science Matters…Come to the DRC and learn about the Triceratops, the dinosaur with horns on its face. See pictures and learn interesting facts. Then make a Triceratops mask to take home. The Triceratops might become your favorite dino!
Dec 11 Sun., 11:00am-2:00pm…Santa and the Dinos…Make a trip to the Dinosaur Resource Center for a visit with Santa and the Dinosaurs! We will have our craft table available to make an ornament for our Christmas tree as well as one for yourselves. Join us for some Christmas fun! Included with museum admissions.
Dec 17 Sat., 1:00pm-3:00pm…Santa’s Missing Sleigh…Denise Gard…Santa’s sleigh is missing! Joey, Kira, and Elf Denise search for the missing sleigh. Will they find it in time or will Christmas be cancelled? Fun tales and joy abound in these merry tales! Kids can make a fun holiday craft at the end and take pictures in front of our cool back drop with Santa, elf Denise and Santa’s helpers…the famous Border Collies Kira and Joey!
